This green Opaco Ferrari Purosangue came to First Class Autosports for full protection, and the owner wanted it to look the same but protected. We wrapped the paint in XPEL Ultimate Stealth PPF for a Opaco paint finish, kept every carbon fiber piece glossy under clear PPF, and finished it with XPEL Prime XR Plus ceramic tint all around.

The result is two finishes on one car, and that contrast was planned from the start.

The Car

The Purosangue is Ferrari's first four-door, four-seat model, with a naturally aspirated V12 up front. This one was built through Ferrari's Atelier program, with silver stripes painted at the factory over the hood, roof and tailgate, a tan leather interior, and plenty of exposed carbon fiber. That carbon shaped every decision on this project.

Why Stealth on the Paint and Gloss on the Carbon

XPEL Ultimate Stealth is a paint protection film with a satin top layer. It protects the paint from rock chips, scratches and swirl marks the same way clear PPF does, and it turns a gloss paint job into a satin one or keep a matte paint like this Ferrari protected but with the same finish. The change is completely reversible because the factory paint is untouched underneath.

The film goes right over the factory stripes too, so the green and the silver both stay satin and both stay protected.

The question on this car was what to do with the carbon. Stealth film over carbon fiber flattens the weave and takes away the depth that makes carbon look like carbon. So we split the car. The painted panels got Stealth, and every carbon piece got clear gloss PPF.

The green reads soft and satin, and the carbon stays deep and glossy next to it. Both are fully protected.

The Challenge

Ferrari body lines don't leave much room for shortcuts. The Purosangue has tight curves, sharp creases and a lot of places where paint and carbon meet. Every one of those edges has to be clean, because a satin panel next to a gloss one shows any mistake right away.

We cut the film custom, panel by panel, instead of relying only on pre-cut kits. That lets us wrap edges where possible, keep seams out of sight, and make the line between Stealth and gloss land exactly where the paint ends and the carbon begins.

What We Did

  • Full-body XPEL Ultimate Stealth PPF on all painted panels, custom cut

  • Clear gloss XPEL PPF on all exposed carbon fiber

  • XPEL Prime XR Plus ceramic tint on all side and rear glass

  • Clear XPEL Prime XR Plus film on the windshield

Why a Clear Windshield Film

Most people think of tint as darkening the glass. XPEL Prime XR Plus is a ceramic film that blocks heat and UV without needing to be dark, so we used a clear version on the windshield. It keeps the cabin cooler and protects the interior from sun damage without changing the view from the driver's seat. With a tan leather interior like this one, that protection matters, and in a Miami summer the difference is noticeable every time the car sits outside.

The Result

From a distance, the Purosangue looks like it has a satin factory finish. Up close, the carbon breaks it up with deep gloss, which gives the car more depth than an all-matte or all-gloss finish would.

FAQ

Can you put Stealth PPF over carbon fiber?

Yes, but it gives the carbon a flat, satin look and hides some of the weave. Most owners who want to show off their carbon go with gloss clear PPF on those pieces, which is what we did here.

Does Stealth PPF damage the factory paint?

No. Stealth protects the paint the same way clear PPF does. When installed and removed properly, the original paint underneath stays in the condition it was in when the film went on.

Is windshield film legal in Florida?

Clear films that don't darken the glass, like the XPEL Prime XR Plus we used here, are a common choice for windshields. Ask us about current Florida tint rules for your car before you book.
